Hi there, I'm Shani Bohlin, I’m a wife, a middle-aged mom of two adult boys and three Labradors, a nurse, and the CEO and Founder of Blue Skies Nursing. I started my nursing career in 2009 as a Labor and Delivery Nurse in Reston, Virginia. I then worked in medical-surgical and orthopedic nursing before transitioning into administration at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia. In 2017, I moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where I served as the Director of Nursing at Casey’s Pond Senior Living Community. During the Covid pandemic, I returned to bedside nursing and obtained my yoga teaching certification and a Masters in Business Administration. I created Blue Skies Nursing, LLC, after recognizing several service gaps in our ever-changing healthcare environment. My experience as a registered nurse and nurse administrator has revealed a troubling trend: an increasing number of medical responsibilities are being shifted onto the reluctant shoulders of family members, unprepared staff, or even the patients themselves. I also noticed the premature transition of seniors to assisted living facilities for issues that could be addressed with in-home nursing care, such as medication management or managing early-stage dementia. I started Blue Skies Nursing to help with these issues, alleviating the pressure on aging individuals, family members, and spouses and to help those who want to age in their homes do so safely.
